Preparing for the first of many campaign battles with the full version of
Longstreet, here is my campaign brigade ready and eager to fight the invaders. I modeled it after Cocke's brigade at First Manassas. I am missing one battery but I feel one is enough for a start. Cocke's brigade had a troop of cavalry (Wise's) attached but we can't show just one base for a unit. I made them 4 bases to reflect the cavalry presence without being too fragile or too powerful. The dismounted appear behind their mounted "parents". Five regiments of six bases each forms the foot. "I" am in the middle. Mounted singles are heroes. Foot singles are sharpshooters. They are on round bases. I hope you like them..
The brigade deployed. Infantry consists of the 8th, 18th, 19th, 28th and 49th VA infantry regiments. Yes, the Loudon artillery battery has red carriages. I saw this in the movie Gods and Generals during its First Manassas scene and liked the look. Wise's "troop" is in the left rear of the photo with their dismounts.
Sharpshooters lead the 18th VA
The Loudon Battery prepares to fire under my watchful eye.
A hero leads the supporting 28th VA
I look forward to the brigade's first test of fire. Longstreet is going to be a great game hopefully rivaling the gem Maurice in simple, elegant, competitive, fun gaming. Well done, Mr. Mustafa!
Happy Gaming!!!
