Five on Friday - end of a busy week

Well hello, I am back in the land of blog. I wasn't away or anything, just busy. I thought a Five on Friday would be a good place to start writing again. Please click here to find many more Five on Friday posts over at Amy's Love Made My Home.

Although it has been a busy week with plenty of excitement and a major crisis, it was not one of those weeks where I felt I was disintegrating with the sheer stress of it. Mind you, it is not over yet :-)

Here five things that stuck in my mind:

::  On our daily walks with Jack along the canal I have been observing this little moorhen nesting for a while now. Some days I can't find the nest, it is so well hidden. I have some reference bushes to locate it but not always successfully. I was finally lucky to get a good luck yesterday. Isn't she sweet? It is sometimes useful to have a powerful zoom. I can't wait to see the chicks.

:: I treated myself to a new armchair. I have been ogling this particular one for about 18 months now. It is an IKEA Sandamon chair. When I noticed that there is now a yellow version, I knew it had to be mine. It took another few weeks to brave it but there you are, my new most comfortable yellow armchair, complete with footrest.

:: Annie participated in her 7th annual ballet show. This year she was a Spanish daisy in a rendition of The Story of Ferdianand by Munro Leaf. It was written in 1936 and adapted as a short film by Walt Disney in 1938. Annie also was dancing to a Frank Sinatra song but which one it was escapes me just now. I was forgiven for melting one of the scarves I hemmed for Annie's class (I ironed it).

:: Today I witnessed my 14 year old son Sam calling up his bank. He lost his debit card and wanted it blocked. He competently answered the questions asked and even remembered a particular transaction he was asked to confirm as a security measure. I was surprised he knew our postcode. They grow up so quickly, don't they? This is the same boy who ten minutes later tried to dissolve a cut up long expired bank card in malt vinegar. He also found the lost card about two hours later. Seriously, it doesn't get any better!

:: The weather has been absolutely glorious and deserves a mention in this weeks Five on Friday! It has been a particularly miserable spring in Scotland and I am sure I have mouldy patches. Oh and the light. It is just amazing. Two nights ago I walked home at half past ten at night, in daylight, Mr Blackbird perched on an aerial surveying his territory, singing loudly. Pure bliss.

What has been happening in your life? Anything exiting? Or has it been an ordinary week for you? I quite like those actually, I like it predictable. In any case, have a wonderful weekend. Christina xx
