There are certain beauty trends that high street sees before premium brands.
I think in the case of more street led trends, it can be easier when you are a smaller or cheaper brand to turn a product out quicker. I certainly know this to be true of fashion brands responding to trends faster is easier when you are a cheaper smaller company.
I have said that two trends I have seen take off on the high street is Micellar water and BB creams. I think the high street brands had the go on BB creams long before premium even thought of it. Then in a rush to release the product (which was a primarily new Asian trend) they released it in limited shades (one company didn't go deeper then my skin tone and I am PALE) which was unfair on customers looking to buy in on the latest trend.
However, I love Micellar water. I've been honest about my experience with expensive micellar water. I didn't rate it. I've just started looking at cheaper brands for it. I had Boots botanics and it was awesome. I found it really long lasting. I've only just run out of it.
Now I've switched to Garnier. I was impressed that they did two sizes of bottle. I grabbed the smaller of the two which was a snip at £2. The larger is £5. My reasoning for the smaller bottle is that I can decant from the larger if I like the product and the smaller will fit in my kit better for transport to shoots. I often do this with foundations as well. I decant and carry the travel size. In a small tester pot, you can get about 5 applications of foundations if you are careful. You shouldn't really need more then that for a small show or shoot.
I'm impressed with what I see from Garnier so far. I was impressed with Botanics as well. I am finding that this is a great alternative to the Clinique Clarifying toner. I had been using it for years to remove my make up and I was a little concerned at how harsh the toner was. I decided that this bottle I have now would be my last. I normally use MAC Cleanse off Oil which is the actual business to remove my make up by mixing it with water. I then use the micellar water to pull the remaining oil and make up off my skin. Although, the MW is enough to remove the make up without the cleanse off oil. So if I am in a rush, I just use that. No make up wipes. I refuse to have them in the house. Although, I do carry them for shoots for quick make up removal. The law dictates that one model will turn up in full make up.
So yeah, invest in this. Save your time and your face.
