Most Anticipated of 2012 (Part 1)

*With the new year upon us, it is time to start anxiously awaiting the release of upcoming projects from some of my favorite artists in 2012. Another great year in music is sure to be expected and loved.

Adam Lambert, Trespassing

Why wait? It is the anticipated return of my favorite American Idol contestant and favorite male artist.
Expected release date: March 20, 2012
What we know: After debuting the ballad “Outlaws of Love” on tour, Lambert treated his fans with the album's first official single, “Better Than I Know Myself”, some of Adam's best work to date. The album is moving away from Adam's previous glam sound and appearance while he works with producers and writers such as Pharrel, Claude Kelly and Ryan Tedder. Other tracks such as the title song and “Shady” have also been confirmed. Lambert stated that the album will be very personal, and if it anything like the first single, then we are all in for a real treat.
What I want to hear: Adam's powerful vocals and incredible style that was present on American Idol and debut album, For Your Entertainment. As well as his songwriting skills.

Jeffree Star, Virginity

Why wait? The Beauty Killer comes back with new material after being signed by the great Akon, who also serves as a producer.
Expected release date: March 2012
What we know: While the project is not a full second album, instead a seven or eight track EP, it still will feature great tracks, including “Prom Night” and the recently announced “Legs Up”. The EP was created to keep fans happy until the release of his official album that will be released through Kon Live Distribution. The project will be the artist's third extended play and first taste of new material since 2009, not including his countless guest appearance on other artists' tracks.
What I want to hear: The familiar horror-pop sound of Star's Beauty Killer paired with credible producing and improved songwriting abilities. Hopefully an uncensored project!

Nicki Minaj, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded

Why wait? Nicki Minaj owned 2011 with a double platinum album as well as being featured on numerous other hit songs. The official second studio album by the artist's alter ego will be epic.
Expected release date: April 3, 2012
What we know: Minaj's second studio album will feature the artist performing as her alter ego, Roman Zolanski, who was present of “Roman's Revenge”, one of my favorite tracks off Pink Friday. Two tracks have already been released preceding the album's release date, “Roman in Moscow” and “Stupid Hoe”, both of which differ greatly from the work present on Minaj's debut album. The project seems to carry less of a pop sound and strictly stick to the hip-hop genre.
What I want to hear: Minaj's carefree and rebellious attitude. Songs that bare a similarity to Minaj's Eminem collaboration. Better stuff than the first two singles.

Nicole Scherzinger, Killer Love

Why wait? After an impressive UK edition, Scherzinger's US version will sure to be a cohesive collection of pop tracks from an artist with a great set of beautiful vocal pipes.
Expected release date: sometime in 2012
What we know: Tracks such as the great “Say Yes” and “Everybody”, along with singles “Right There” and “Don't Hold Your Breath”, have made there way out in some form and impressed a numerous amount of critics, but unknown setbacks have pushed the release date back from its original 2011 date. The US edition will have a slightly different track list including collaborations with 50 Cent and Snoop Dogg. Newly created tracks such as “Try With Me” and “Pretty” may also appear.
What I want to hear: The same tracks featured on the UK edition along with new material that will make the project as enjoyable as it was when I first listened to the collection. Raw talent.

Lana Del Rey, Born to Die

Why wait? In 2011 all eyes were on the incredible Lana Del Rey, an artist with extreme beauty and an original sound and style. The album is only the beginning to something great.
Expected release date: January 30, 2012
What we know: The album's entire track list has made its way out which includes the amazing title track and “Blue Jeans”. After being signed to Interscope Records, promotion for the indie artist began with an upcoming appearance on SNL. The album will be influenced by the pop, rock and hip-hop genres, an impressive mix for any artist. The project will surely feature the show-stopping vocals that were present on already released singles. The album will be the start of a great career.
What I want to hear: Impressed by “Blue Jeans”, I want the same style that attracted me to Del Rey in the first place. The originality and attitude are reasons for my addiction.

Hilary Duff, TBA

Why wait? The new album marks the return of a pop princess that was in training prior to her needed departure from Hollywood Records. This ex-Disney star is still one of my major obsessions.
Expected release date: Not sure, but a date in 2012 is highly desired
What we know: Not much, but Duff's desire to record music has been around for some time. With a baby boy on the way, the artist/actress has enough time to hop into a recording studio to crank out a follow up to the amazing Dignity, released way back in 2007. The record has been confirmed by Duff herself, but no other details are known.
What I want to hear: The beautiful voice that was only starting to develop and tracks that are on the same level of greatness as her previous work. Fingers crossed for a Lady Gaga transformation.

*These albums have me biting my nails in anticipation. 2012 will be great and I'm getting prepared. All will surely have reviews. Part 2 of my most anticipated will be up later in the week.
